Liebrecht Vanbeckevoort made his international breakthrough on the concert stage in 2007, when he became a Laureate and Public Prize winner at the prestigious Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition. As an official ‘Steinway Artist’, he has performed worldwide in major concert venues in Europe, Israel, China, South-Korea, South-Africa, Canada and the United States.
As a soloist, Liebrecht has performed with first-class orchestras, such as the Belgian National Orchestra, the Brussels Philharmonic, the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Chamber Orchestra of Wallonia, Casco Phil, l’Orchestre National d’Ile de France, the Cologne Academy, the European Union Chamber Orchestra, the Cracow Philharmonic, the Anhaltische Philharmonie Dessau, the Cape Town and Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestras, a.o. under the baton of distinguished conductors as Brossé, Herreweghe, Hrusa, Judd, Kochanovsky, Mazzola, Pehlivanian, Reiland, Tabachnik, Varga, Weller, …

Being a passionate and accomplished chamber musician, he regularly shares the concert stage with internationally renowned artists such as violinists Ning Kam, Stella Chen, Tobias Feldmann and Timothy Chooi, pianists Severin von Eckardstein and Vitaly Samoshko, tenor Thomas Blondelle and cellist Camille Thomas. He also is a member of the Roeland Hendrikx Ensemble. Together with Belgian jazz pianist Jef Neve, he forms a celebrated piano duo and as such have toured their homeland with their program ‘If Mozart and Monk were brothers’.
Many of these collaborations resulted in recordings and an extended discography, currently consisting of 14 cds, most of them on the Etcetera Records label. His recordings receive international recognition and acclaim and are broadcasted worldwide.
His predilection for chamber music and sense for musical entrepreneurship, are also portrayed in his function of artistic director of the international ‘Festival Klassiek Leeft’ in Knokke-Heist Belgium, with festival editions in winter (Vurig) and summer (Meesterlijk).
Lastly, in 2020 Liebrecht also became artistic director of Piano LAB, commissioned by the Grand Commandery Alden Biesen in Bilzen, Belgium. This initiative enjoys the support of the Flemish Government and presents itself as a piano laboratory creating an ideal biotope for creativity, the development of authentic craftsmanship, unbridled experiment and innovation.
Liebrecht Vanbeckevoort holds several certificates and degrees from the Royal Conservatory inBrussels, the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich, Indiana University in Bloomington and New England Conservatory in Boston (USA), where he studied with Jan Michiels, Elissó Virsaladze, Menahem Pressler and Russell Sherman. He also received precious advice from musical personalities like Leif Ove Andsnes, Jacques De Tiège, Alexander Korsantia and Hans Leygraf.
He was appointed professor piano at LUCA School of Arts in Leuven in 2014, is regularly invited to give masterclasses from Brussels to Cape Town and from Boston to Seoul and serves as a jury member in several piano competitions.
Liebrecht is married and father of 4 children. He is a passionate football and tennis fan and enjoys gardening, cooking and reading.
